Children are truly God’s gift to mankind; they are blessed with magnificent characteristics of innocence, a sense of wonder, faith, obedience, submission and numerous others.

It can be quite challenging to be a parent of a disabled child but it is a parent’s duty to sacrifice themselves in order to bring up their children according to God’s will. Kids with Autism, ADHD, and other anxiety issues undergo many struggles like overcoming loud sounds, bright lights, large gatherings which can be overwhelming for them. Studies prove that the plausibility of children with autism and other special needs attending religious services are extremely low, which hinders the family’s spiritual growth overall; usual Sunday schools do not specifically help disabled kids; which therefore affects the parents both mentally and emotionally.

The City Harvest AG Special Sunday School truly abides to the stewardship that the Lord has appointed us for. Hence, we believe that all of us need the gospel for eternal life, irrespective of our special needs and disabilities; as a result, we started this ministry called Autism or Special Sunday School in 2016, with a vision of being caretakers of children with special needs.

Our main goal is to help parents with autistic children irrespective of their religious background and faith. As we look after the children, we also help them realize that God loves them and can transform them.

Special Needs Teachers

Our Autism Sunday School consists of a group of teachers who are well trained to help special needs children; they are equipped with biblical knowledge and practical understanding of Special Needs to take care of them. God has been working tremendously in this ministry since we started, with the kids showing a lot of improvement over the years.

Special Sunday School is conducted every Sunday from 9:30 am to 11 am at City Harvest AG Church Bangalore. We utilize this time completely to submit our kids with special needs to the Lord. God’s word has the power to transform every person.

“For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. My frame was not hidden from you when I was made in the secret place…. Your eyes saw my unformed body. All the days ordained for me were written in your book before one of them came to be. Psalm 139: 13-16

All of God’s creations are made fearfully and wonderfully with their own purpose ,i.e.,  our days are already written by Him and God knows all our weaknesses, trials, and disabilities; yet, He loves us. Most importantly, this is applicable to all the living beings he has created.

Jesus Welcomed Children

Our Lord Jesus Christ has always welcomed human beings of all kinds. This includes children, adults, people with special needs and various disabilities among others.

The gospel of John describes two significant examples, wherein, Jesus himself tells the purpose behind people with special needs. First, Jesus with the man who was blind since birth. The disciples asked him the reason behind his disability. Jesus answered, “Neither this man nor his parents sinned…. This happened so that the works of God might be displayed in him.” John 9:3.

Second, when Jesus heard of Lazarus’ sickness he said:

“This illness does not lead to death. It is for the glory of God, so that the Son of God may be glorified through it.” – John 11:4
