Doctrine/Beliefs
1. Bible – Authority of God’s Word
We believe the Bible, both the Old Testament and New Testament to be the only inspired, infallible, and authoritative Word of God. The Bible is the revelation of God to man, the infallible, authoritative rule of faith and conduct. (2 Timothy 3:16-17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Peter 1:21; 1 Corinthians 2:13; Mark 12:26,36; 13:11; Acts 1:16; 2:4).
2. One True God
We believe that there is one God, who eternally exists in three persons, the Father, the Son and the Holy Spirit. There is one true God who has revealed himself as Father, Son, and Holy Spirit; and that these three having the same nature, attributes, and perfections, are worthy of all worship, confidence and obedience (Deuteronomy 6:4; Isaiah 43:10-11; Matthew 28:19-20; Mark 12:29; Luke 3:22; John 1:1-4; Acts 5:3,4; 2 Corinthians 13:14; Hebrews 1:1-3; Revelation 1:4-6).
3. Deity of the Lord Jesus Christ
We believe in the deity of Jesus Christ; in His Virgin Birth; in His sinless humanity; in His miracles; in His perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people through the shedding of His blood and death on the cross; in His bodily resurrection; in His ascension to the right hand of the Father; and in His personal return in power and glory (Matthew 1:18-25; John 1:14, 8:40,58, 11:33; Acts 1:9-11; Romans 5:8-10; Colossians 1:15-17; Hebrews 1:8).
The Lord Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God. The Scriptures declare:
a. His virgin birth (Matthew 1:23; Luke 1:31,35).
b. His sinless life (Hebrews 7:26; 1 Peter 2:22).
c. His miracles (Acts 2:22; 10:38).
d. His substitutionary work on the cross (1 Corinthians 15:3; 2 Corinthians 5:21).
e. His bodily resurrection from the dead (Matthew 28:6; Luke 24:39; 1 Corinthians 15:4).
f. His exaltation to the right hand of God (Acts 1:9,11; 2:33; Philippians 2:9-11; Hebrews 1:3).
4. Fall of Man
We believe that man was created good and upright in the image and likeness of God but that through Adam’s sin all of mankind has fallen and inherited a sin nature, thus man in his natural state is lost, alienated from God and incapable of attaining salvation by any personal effort or merit (Genesis 1:26-27, 2:17; Romans 3, 5:12-19; Ephesians 2:1-3, 4:18-19).
(Genesis 1:26,27; 2:17; 3:6; Romans 5:12-19).
5. Salvation of Man
We believe that salvation is a free gift of God offered to all humanity by grace and received through personal faith in the Lord Jesus Christ. This faith is expressed in works pleasing to God. Man’s only hope of redemption is through the shed blood of Jesus Christ, the Son of God. (John 3:16, 14:6; Romans 3:28, 8:31-39; 1 Corinthians 12:13; Galatians 3:26-27,36-39; Ephesians 2:8-9; 1 Timothy 2:5-6).
- Conditions to salvation. Salvation is received through repentance toward God and faith toward the Lord Jesus Christ (Luke 24:47; John 3:3; Romans 10:13-15; Ephesians 2:8; Titus 2:11; 3:5-7).
- Evidences of salvation. The inward evidence is the direct witness of the Spirit (Romans 8:16). The outward evidence to all men is a life of righteousness and holiness (Ephesians 4:24; Titus 2:12).
6. Ordinances of the Church
We believe in the Church which is the body and bride of Christ, that we are a spiritual family united by the Holy Spirit. Being members one of another we are responsible in good conscience to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace, loving one another with a pure heart. We believe that the Lord Jesus Christ, who is the Head over all the church, commanded His people to hold to the practice of water baptism and the regular taking of Communion. We believe that these practices serve as a demonstration of our living faith in Him.
- Baptism in water by immersion is commanded in the Scriptures. All who repent and believe on Christ as Saviour and Lord are to be baptized. This declares to the world that they have died with Christ and been raised with Him to walk in newness of life (Matthew 28:19; Mark 16:16; Acts 10:47,48; Romans 6:4).
- Holy Communion, or the Lord’s Supper, consists of the elements — bread and the fruit of the vine. It is a symbol of our sharing the divine nature (2 Peter 1:4); a reminder of His suffering and death (1 Corinthians 11:26); and a prophecy of His second coming (1 Corinthians 11:26).
7. Baptism in the Holy Spirit
We believe all believers are entitled to and should ardently expect and earnestly seek the baptism in the Holy Spirit. With it comes enduement of power for life and service. We believe in the promise of the Holy Spirit, not as an influence, but as a Divine Person, who was sent at Pentecost to unify all believers into one body, the Church, whose indwelling is the source and power of all acceptable worship and service. He is our abiding Comforter and Helper, and is ever present to testify of Christ (John 7:38-39; 14:16-17; 15:26; 16:13-14; Acts 1:8; Rom. 8:9; Phil. 3:3).
With the Holy Spirit comes enduement of power for life and service (Luke 24:49; Acts 1:4,8; 1 Corinthians 12:1-31). It is distinct from and subsequent to the new birth (Acts 8:12-17; 10:44-46; 11:14-16; 15:7-9).
8. Sanctification
Sanctification is an act of separation from that which is evil, and of dedication to God (Romans 12:1,2; 1 Thessalonians 5:23; Hebrews 13:12). Scriptures teach a life of “holiness without which no man shall see the Lord” (Hebrews 12:14).
9. Resurrection
We believe in the physical resurrection of both the saved and the lost: those who are saved unto the resurrection of life, and those who are lost unto the resurrection of damnation (Rom 8:23; I Cor 15, Psalm 90:3-4; Rev 20:12-15; Mat 25:31-46).
